And happy fourth night of Hanukkah, too.

Isaac turned 6 months old on Saturday, so today we took some portraits to mark the occasion.

OK, this feels a little like blatant self-promotion, but if you can't do that on your blog, where can you?

I just wrapped up an online class on photographing babies and children and was recently honored to learn that my classmates voted me top student in the class.

These are my "photos of the week," as selected by the instructor over the course of the class.

Brittany and Cesar's wedding

This weekend, we went to the wedding of a Marine from my husband's reserve unit and her fiance. As it turned out, they didn't have a photographer and I had brought my gear to take a few shots, so I ended up shooting as much as I could during the ceremony and reception.

I took my son to Texas to meet some family earlier this month, and during the trip, we were able to get together with my friend Lori. She is also a photographer and has been answering many of my silly questions as I learn more. I played photo shoot with her adorable daughter Maddie. You can see more of the pictures here.

We had, I am not joking, six minutes to get a family picture yesterday before I ordered our holiday cards. My hair looks all weird, but everyone looks happy, and that's really what matters!

For the main pic, though, we will be using this one:



I had to do some creative Photoshop action because the seamless paper got messed up on the carpet, but when we reshot to fix that issue, the expression and composition weren't as good. And again, it was the expression that mattered most in this particular case.
