It's a lot tougher to take pictures while wrangling a baby and all his stuff, but I took a few at Henry's 1st birthday party yesterday. He, like all 1-year-olds should, got a handful of icing and cake. I'm glad I caught that moment (as well as the little plume of smoke coming from the single candle)!

I haven't been getting out much lately since I am at home with a newborn. But he, Isaac, is getting used to having a camera waved in his face.

This is him this past week, just shy of six weeks old.

I ended up practicing lighting on myself throughout my pregnancy. Since my family isn't that close by, they wanted to see frequently updated belly pictures, and I needed to learn more about using off-camera flash. It was a win-win.

My friend Lori is an avid juggler, and she wanted an interesting photo for her Facebook profile. I wanted to play with my new lens, so we got together in April and took a bunch of action shots.

My husband Judah's friend and coworker Pat got married in March, and I of course brought the camera along.

The lighting wasn't ideal, and I didn't want to step on the pro's toes, so I kept my use of flash to a minimum, but I still got some good shots. You can see the whole set here.

'So You Think You Can Dance' auditions

I blog about reality TV as part of my job (though I am currently on leave), and in November, I went to the Atlas Performing Arts Center to check out the Washington auditions for Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.

I was taking pictures and video (and it was about 20 degrees outside), so it got a little hectic, but here's the set of photos, and here is the video from the day.

... having been distracted by the little project of my new baby, Isaac. But I just realized that people have been visiting this page from my Flickr profile page, so it's time to do some updating. It's not like I haven't been taking pictures, after all!
